Ramesh is a dark complexioned “idiot”. He works as a decorating boy in “Majumder Decorators”. He is different about his social entity because of his complexion. He is nick named, “Kelo Ramesh”. He has Fatik Babu, a local hero, before him as an idol, who is a fair complexioned man having a thickly fine moustache on and a designed hair-top. Ramesh likes to imitate his hero in the way of having a like moustache on and a fair complexion. For this, he goes through several freaks, visits god in dream and dreams himself changed into a pseudo-Fatik, struts and frets like his hero.

Fatik Babu arranges an opera show in the village on the occasion of “Sivaratri”. Ramesh is engaged to work of constructing the stage. Madan and Achala are the two co-actors of the opera, come close to Ramesh. Fatik begins flirting with Achala and one night he is caught in the act of seducing Achala against her wish (off the stage). Fatik becomes disposed to blemishes in public. Ramesh Ultimately realizes that beauty lies in one’s heart, not in one’s complexion and get over. There emerges the self confidence in Ramesh and the play ends.
